Overview

Situated in the vibrant heart of Paris’s 10th arrondissement, Bazar Restaurant Maurice Reunion offers an authentic taste of Mauritian and Réunion Island cuisine. Located at 98 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis, this cozy spot invites guests into an intimate space where rich island flavors come alive, making it a hidden gem for those craving genuine Indian Ocean culinary experiences.

The menu highlights are a testament to traditional heritage and carefully crafted recipes. The Dholl Purri stands out with its crisp exterior and savory lentil filling, perfectly paired with aromatic chutneys. The Poulpe Noodels combine tender octopus with hand-pulled noodles, fusing textures and spices that echo coastal island kitchens. Meanwhile, the Beignet offers a delightful, light bite with a hint of sweetness, ideal as a starter or snack.

Patrons consistently praise the warm and personable welcome, reflecting the owner and chef’s deep connection to their roots. This creates an atmosphere where every meal feels like a communal celebration of island culture. As Didier Hoarau notes, the restaurant brilliantly recreates the flavors and familiar drinks of Mauritius and Réunion, evoking a strong sense of nostalgia for those from the islands and an inviting discovery for newcomers.

The restaurant suits both local Parisians and travelers eager to experience unique culinary ventures beyond typical French fare. Families, couples, and solo diners alike find comfort here, with Serge Manargadoo’s comment highlighting its appeal as a place to taste island life before a proper holiday. The modest yet authentic ambiance reinforces a focus on food quality and genuine hospitality rather than elaborate decor.

In essence, Bazar Restaurant Maurice Reunion is a culinary bridge to the Indian Ocean’s rich gastronomic heritage, offering a flavorful journey marked by tradition, freshness, and heartfelt service. For anyone seeking to explore Mauritian and Réunion Island cuisines in Paris, this spot delivers an unforgettable, authentic experience.
